Why choose this programme?

The BA (Hons) Outdoor Adventure Leadership is a dynamic course that examines a range of leadership, coaching and educational issues within the outdoor/adventure sector. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on developing a range of skills that will promote four key themes; professionalism, independence, experience and deployability. These are highly applicable not only within the outdoor sector but also to professions outside the industry. In addition, emphasis is placed on developing an advanced understanding of the practical and contemporary issues within and specific to the outdoor sector.

In addition you will obtain real-world hands-on experience through a number of week-long residential experiences. These are throughout both your first and second years of academic study.

Development of your practical skills is, which are key to employment within the industry,  are offered through an extensive 'Enhancement Opportunities' programme. Opportunity to gain a range of National Governing  Body qualifications is also offered through this programme.  

International experiences can also form part of your academic study and an optional sandwich year is available between your 2nd and 3rd year. Previously, students have worked in destinations such as  Hong Kong and the Indian Himalaya.
