Adventure Sports Coaching

The BA (Hons) Adventure Sports Coaching Degree provides a balanced approach to both practical and theoretical concepts and is the perfect course for the outdoor/adventure sports enthusiasts who seek a career doing something they love.

Emphasis is placed on developing an advanced understanding of the practical, theoretical and contemporary issues within outdoor/adventure sports coaching. UCLan Outdoors Division also offer a BA (Hons) Outdoor Leadership course.

Understandably, the BA (Hons) Adventure Sports Coaching has a significant amount of practical delivery which provides opportunities for students to apply theoretical concepts to real life coaching.

Development of practical skills is another key focus of the course and students attend residential weeks throughout the programme focusing on mountaineering, kayaking, canoeing, caving & climbing.

For those who wish to develop their skills even further, personal skill development and expedition opportunities are available and include:
  • Winter mountaineering (Scotland & France)
  • White water kayaking (Slovenia & Austria)
  • Sea kayaking (North Wales)
  • Open Canoe expedition (Canada)
